dental inlays and onlays

- Inlays and onlays are considered “indirect” fillings meaning they are fillings fabricated outside of the mouth and bonded to the tooth.
- They are recommended when a tooth cavity, crack, or fracture is too large to be repaired with a filling but not extensive enough to need a full-coverage crown. They are made from the same material as a full-crown but instead of covering the whole tooth a puzzle piece of the damaged area is fabricated and bonded in place.
- Inlays and onlays have many advantages:
- More conservatibe option than a full coverage crown
- Superior fit, improved esthetics, strong and long-lasting compared to dental fillings.
